Jimmy Light is Lawrenceburg Speedway’s 2008 Track Champion
9.17.08 -by Ray Productions “Winning the Championship this year was sort of a surprise; I guess you could say. We didn’t start the season wanting to race for points, so when I found out I had a chance to win it, it was good to hear since the beginning of the season was a little rough,” said Light. Light’s 2008 race season started in early April competing at tracks like Bloomington Speedway and Twin Cities Raceway Park in North Vernon, IN while the re-development of Lawrenceburg Speedway was still under construction. Light was able to pull off a few top 10 finishes before suffering from two bad crashes that left him short on equipment for the rest of the season. “I had a bad crash at Lawrenceburg Speedway during Indiana Sprint Week that left me in a little bit of a bind,” said Light. “Thankfully, DRC had a chassis ready to go and I was able to put another car together with the spares I had left laying around my shop.” Everything looked up from that rough point on for Light and his team. They were able to finish consecutively in the top five and came in a close 2nd one night before clinching the title. Just one point race remains at Lawrenceburg Speedway this Saturday night September 20th, and there’s no doubt Light wants to take the win for the finale of the season. “I really want to get a win at the new Lawrenceburg Speedway. I was able to get three last year, so I was hoping for at least one this year. Either way, I’m happy to have the Championship and want to dedicate it to my Grandpa. He always told me I needed to win a track Championship, so I’m proud I got to do that for him.” For more information, please visit, www.jimmylight.com, www.lawrenceburgspeedway.com |
